Through the agreement, Vietnam Airlines will continue to provide all Abacus-connected travel agents with access to all fares, seat availability, fare families and optional services offered by Vietnam Airlines.
“It is an important time now in our growth strategy, and we look to Abacus’ leadership in Asia Pacific through its relationships, experience, expertise and presence to seamlessly and efficiently deliver our content, fares and a-la-carte options to our mutual customers,” said Trinh Ngoc Thanh, executive vice president of commercial, Vietnam Airlines.
“This agreement confirms Abacus as a preferred distribution partner in Vietnam and the rest of Asia, and we look forward to our companies in collaborating to best support and develop next generation solutions for effortless distribution.”
This new partnership deal marks another significant milestone in the extensive relationship Vietnam Airlines and Abacus have enjoyed since 1995.
It will see the on-going collaboration of Abacus and Vietnam Airlines through joint marketing in key markets and utilisation of Abacus’ award-winning products and services to drive higher yield and stronger sales across Asia Pacific.
Abacus will deliver Abacus Branded Fares and Abacus Air Extras to address the airline’s needs for merchandising and ancillary product efficiencies, allowing Abacus-connected agents to cater to the specific needs and preferences of today’s seasoned travellers in driving fare value and up-selling opportunities.
Vietnam Airlines will also deploy Abacus Group extensively across key markets, including the fast-growing Korea and China.
“We are very excited about our continued partnership with Vietnam Airlines, especially in this time of rapid expansion as it continues on its way to becoming one of the largest carriers in Asia, and in playing a part to help Vietnam Airlines continuously integrate its content offerings with its Sky Team partners,” said Ho Hoong Mau, division head of airline distribution, Abacus International.
“This collaborative relationship allows Vietnam Airlines to distinguish its entire suite of products to customers, consistent with how Abacus wants to partner with all airlines on merchandising, optional ancillary sales and product differentiation.
Vietnam Airlines has plans to expand its fleet to 171 aircraft by 2020 as well as expansion across its network throughout this period.
